The best things about football.

Updated: Dec 15, 2023

Welcome to the first installment of the JL Football blog. We will use this blog to discuss different areas of our business. As well as this we will discuss different topics within football and grassroots football. Our aim is to hopefully help people that may need it in any way possible but also inform people of different aspects of football or grassroots football.

At JL Football we want to ensure that everyone has a place in football. We understand that as someone who has never played before it can be intimidating for players and even parents to join a new session particularly with all the videos you see online from us and other organisations showing players of a really high level. What we want is everyone to understand that all players had to start somewhere. Whether your child is aged 3 or aged 16. If they've never played football before we are here to help. Please don't be put off by all the high level videos you see online. These videos are not reflective of most sessions.

We have a concern at JL that players are being put off because they're not good enough yet. The problem being that you need to play to improve. Over the last two years, JL Football has helped a large number of players go from barely being able to kick a ball to playing in grassroots teams and even in some cases joining professional academies.

What we want everyone to know is that our success is not measured by the number of players we get into academies. We measure it on how many we get playing football regularly and enjoying it with their friends week in week out.

Football is not all about the academies and winning trophies.

Football is about the relationships you build with people both on and off the pitch. As someone who has been coaching for 13 years and managed to coach players to the point where they've joined academies. My best achievement is still the people and players I speak to on a regular basis. Players I've coached from the age of 9 and even younger in some cases speaking to them about what they want to do for a career and offering advice where I can. That's what football is all about. If you can win a trophy or win some games amongst that as well as becoming the best player you can be and reaching what you're capable of within football at the same time. That's the perfect balance.
